We posted about JCB Diesel‘s record attempts on the salt the other day, reporting that driver Andy Green lifted the record in AA/DS to 317.021 mph, putting Green in the 200 MPH Club and the 300 MPH chapter of the club. But hey, when you’ve gone 763 mph already, what’s 317? Well, Edmunds Inside Line reported yesterday that the Dieselmax streamliner averaged 328.767 mph for the record, a number which we can’t find at all on the SCTA-BNI website (look for the results page). Gotta wonder where Inside Line got its information.
Ah, because it wasn’t an SCTA run, it was FIA, according to Pistonheads. Guess JCB don’t want anybody coming close to their record for a while.
UPDATE: Those JCB guys really wanted to pack it all in while here in the states. Ran again for the final time Wednesday and bumped the record up again to 350.092 mph. More details at their site.
And we will concede that, while the E85 Cobalt did set a record at 156.073 mph, as we reported the other day, we missed the fact that driver Mark Dickens added a boost of nitrous for a succeeding run to break his own record with a 172.680 mph pass. GM has a press release detailing all of its efforts at Bonneville this year.
