From the moment I saw the pictures of the recently introduced Mitsuoka Micro over at Jalopnik,
I immediately thought of Gary Meadors‘s track roadster, which I saw at Bonneville this year.
Actually, that’s a common (and butt-ugly, IMO) track roadster grille design, and I also see a lot of early Auto Union racer in the Micro’s face, but I find it partly hilarious, partly revolting that Mitsuoka appropriated that design. I know some Japanese have taken a shine to traditional American hot rods, what with the Moon connection. Is this a sign of things to come? Will we see American hot rodders importing Micros just for their grille shells?
