Running at Bonneville sure seems like a lot of fun, but entails more than a few modifications to the family car. This 2013 Superformance B-Class Lakester for sale on Hemmings.com, however, has been designed for the singular task of going very fast in a long, straight line. As for how fast, even the car’s builder isn’t quite sure: On its solitary run at the Salt Flats, the Lakester ran to 186 MPH in first gear, but a broken shifter cable prevented the driver from engaging second gear. From the seller’s description:
New, custom built B-Class Lakester. 800 hp 383 stroker with all the best parts. Mahle Pistons, H-beam rods, Roller cam, Scorpion lifters, Dart head with oversize valves, Fast fuel injection. Powerglide Transmission dyno’d at 1300 hp.Ford 9″ racing rears and axles. 3.07 gear ratio. Billeted aluminum wheels and Mickey Thompson Bonneville LSR tires rated at 500+ mph. She doesn’t like it and is going to run our other car. Over $150.000 invested. Car has made one run at Bonneville. Ran 186 mph in first gear. Shifter cable broke and car would not shift to 2nd so top end is unknown.
